The bebop melody has a lot. The main difference between bebop and swing is that bebop focuses on improvisation and swing does not. The bebop melody has a lot of improvisation and complex rhythms that are not repeated. On the other hand, the swing usually has simple rhythms and melodies, which are usually repeated over a long period of time.
Bebop is much more musically complex than its predecessor Big Band Swing. Several textbooks on jazz that I have read point to what their authors have perceived as a smooth transition from the big band music of the swing era to the small-group music of the next historical era of jazz, bebop.
