An interview with James Moody - "I'm in competition with myself"
Moody,
who opens a four-night stand at the Dirty Dog Jazz Café on Wednesday,
believes that his best work is ahead of him, and that's saying
something given how much sterling music is behind him. James Moody is my hero, and he should be yours. At 84, the
irrepressible saxophonist and flutist remains a ferociously creative
musician, playing with passion, energy and a sense of wonder at the
endless possibilities of music. Read complete story from the Detroit Free Press.

Editor's note: I was fortunate enough to be on a JazzTimes Caribbean cruise in 2002 with James Moody, Lou Donaldson, The Heath Brothers, Jon Faddis, Russell Malone, Steve Turre and others. What a great time! And I still have the T-shirt.
